Imagine you are an actor on opening night trying to perform on a set that isn't completed. Then one actor doesn't show up, a man from the audience uses your stage phone to argue with his wife, the props either don't work or are missing, the lighting and sound cues are off and two silly, incompetent stagehands do their worst. That's only the beginning of this award-winning show which actually caused a woman in one audience to fall from her chair in laughter. This delightful play is filled with surprises and zany characters and is ideal for competition, fund-raising and pure entertainment.
One of the funniest, most inventive takes on what it is like to put on a show. Outlandish, brash, and exuberant, Take Five leaves the audience with tear-stained cheeks and bellyaches from a half hour of non-stop laughter.
This play had everyone laughing from the moment the curtain opened right till it closed.
Pederson's Take Five was the perfect way to end the district level of the Sears Ontario Drama Festival. The students attending the festival got a chance to experience the catharsis of laughter and identify with the possibility of disasters on the stage.
This play was a strong ensemble show that gave our actors a chance to stretch their abilities in the comic medium. The audience loved it!
This escalating madcap performance of a 'play gone bad' was delightfully entertaining for both the audience and the actors. The dialogue and minimalist set allowed for each actor to be highly unrestricted in their roles, while the near-constant stage movement makes this one-act very easy to direct for an amateur or novice production.
The cast of Take Five had great fun with this play. They had the audience in stitches. Because "Greg Baxter" came onto the stage from the audience, those in attendance felt like part of the production. A smashing success with great reviews!!
Hilarious from beginning to end. Anyone connected with theatre will fall in love with this "play within a play" comedy. A terrific script.
Take Five was a huge hit every night! The audiences laughed uproariously, and the kids loved performing it.
Take Five is a very funny show. Students love the roles. Easy-to-build set, simple to light.
This is a thoroughly entertaining play. Our audiences have given us many kudos for the wit, timing, and story line in this play-within-a-play! As directors we rate this play with an A+ for a good challenge and many rewards!
From the moment Greg Baxter announced his presence in the audience, the audience steeled themselves for surprises. Our audience loved it, calling it our best play ever! Our cast members were very proud of the show.
A great choice for competition. Fast-paced and hilarious.
Hilarious! Loved by actors and audiences alike.
Wonderful, fun comedy that shows the worst-case scenarios a director, actor and stage hands could encounter. Hilarious scenes throughout that make the audience wonder, "Was that planned?" and "Was that in the script?" Great for all ages and audiences.
Wonderful show! Vey funny and well scripted. The humor is perfect for a one-act competition! Theatre people find this show funny.
Don't be afraid to ham it upÑover the top isn't enough! I let my students go all out and we had so much fun. The "regular" people steal the show.
