Synopsis

This play was chosen through a national competition to represent the United States in the International Amateur Theatre Festival at Monaco. The time of the play is the Civil War and its theme, in a sense, is that the wars of yesterday must not become the wars of tomorrow. An oddly assorted group of people are deeply injured by war. Now, however, they're preparing a festive party with games and balloons for an "unknown soldier." The young soldier arrives and, in the midst of a subtly developing strangeness and tension, he wonders why they're being so wonderful to him. In a shocking ending, we discover the reason.
